Mercom Corporation is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Accountant in Pawleys Island, SC. Responsibilities:

  1. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
  2. Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
  3. Oversee analysis and reconciliation of cash and assist in relationship management with baks and lenders.
  4. Assist CFO in the coordination of and control of annual audit schedules and liaise with external audit team.
  5. Distribute expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
  6. Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  7. Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures.
  8. Utilize the ERP system to implement and maintain capital asset schedules (additions, disposals, transfers, etc) to include review and reconciliation.
  9. Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  10. Review general ledger balances, prepare account reconciliations, and post journal entries
  11. Assist in implementing and monitoring internal accounting procedures and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  12. Maintain other financing source records (leases, bonds, lines of credit).
  13. Review documentation and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  14. Prepare schedules and year end account reconciliations for the annual audit.
  15. Utilize the ERP system to implement and maintain inventory balances, research variances and reconcile physical inventory to general ledger balances.
  16. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  17. Comply with federal/state/company policies, procedures, and regulations as well as guidelines of the Company's Quality Management System, as pertaining to this position.
  18. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant License is preferred.
  • Five to ten years of prior accounting experience.
  • Proficiency with all aspects of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge and experience with enterprise level accounting software, inventory software and order processing systems preferred.
