Mercom Corporation is seeking qualified candidates for a Security Specialist in the Springfield, VA areaThis position will be directly supporting multiple agencies within Intelligence Community and requires an active TS/SCI clearance. The successful candidate will delive  agile and responsive customer service through a full-range of personnel security services to ensure protection of national security equities.  The ideal candidate for this position would be one that can work well under pressure and can also work in a team environment and/or on individual projects.    

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, investigate, research, document, and forward to adjudications, all reportable information from employees and contractors within the IRTPA and DNI mandated timelines.
  • Complete processing of all security reportables within 60 days of receipt (this includes monitoring the time it is within adjudications).
  • Document, file, and maintain all actions in the PeopleSoft security system of record.
  • Collect, investigate, research, document, and forward to adjudications, as applicable, all adjudicatively relevant information received through automated records checks (ARC) and the continuous evaluation program (CEP) for employees and contractors, in the SISP mandated timelines.
  • Follow-up as appropriate to ensure timely action on all Automated Record Checks (ARC) and CEP events.
  • Document, file, and maintain all actions in the PeopleSoft security system of record
  • Prepare accurate and quality reports of investigation.
  • Process quality applicant and employee background investigation initiations within 7 days to meet IRTPA mandates.
  • Process quality contractor e-nominations in ten days or less in accordance with ICD 704, ICD 709, and ICPG 704.4 standards.
  • Submit appropriate documentation to applicable databases to complete the National Agency Checks in less than 30 days.
  • Prepare the National Agency Check report using the established template and place in ePSF, annotating action in the Investigations Module in PeopleSoft.
  • Identify any outstanding actions on a weekly basis to the government Team Lead.
  • Process contractor e-nomination crossover requests in two days or less and in accordance with ICD 704, ICD 709, and ICPG 704.4 standards.
 

Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience, with at least 2 years within the DoD/IC, or equivalent experience,
  • Desired Trainings/Knowledge:
    • JPAS,
    • PeopleSoft.

Additional Essential Knowledge/Skills:

  • General knowledge of security practices with emphasis in personnel, physical and/or industrial security.
  • Experience may be broad based, crossing multiple markets (e.g. government, industry) and may also include relevant and associated certifications and knowledge of applicable tools, methodologies, or best practices
  • Works independently and closely with senior specialist or task leads.
  • Must obtain DoD Security Fundamentals Professional Certification within 1 year of service.
  • Clear and concise writing skills.
  • Positive, engaging communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills to ensure required timelines and FIS quality standards are met.
